Koffiebreak tijdens het motorrijden: zet gemakkelijk je eigen bakkie

Coffee break during motorcycling: easily make your own cup of joe

No, not e5 or e10, but a good (strong) cup of coffee will keep your own engine running. Nothing beats a homemade fresh cup of coffee. How do you make one during a motorcycle trip? Below I have listed a number of ways.

Portable espresso makers

These compact espresso machines are upcoming. They work as follows: fill the filter with ground coffee. Fill the water reservoir with hot water. By means of a pump, you push the water through the filter into your mug. The compact size is a big plus. These devices are pricey though. On average, you pay 40 euros. In addition, you have to pump quite a bit (20 to 30 times) for a full espresso. You can only make one cup at a time.

Coffee filters

An old-fashioned way to make coffee. Using a filter cone that fits on a mug. You just use the coffee filters from home. Fill it with ground coffee and pour hot water through the filter from above. Voilà... A delicious cup of coffee directly in your mug. These coffee filters are made of stainless steel or plastic. Foldable stainless steel coffee filters take up little space and are sturdy.

Percolators

The percolator, also called an espresso maker or moka pot, is an aluminum or stainless steel coffee pot. The percolator has a reservoir that you fill with water. On top of this, you place the filter with ground coffee in it. Finally, you screw the pouring pot onto the whole thing. Place the percolator on your burner. Due to the heat from the heat source, the water is "forced" through the filter into the pouring pot. When the coffee is almost ready, it starts to bubble. As soon as the percolator stops bubbling, your coffee is ready. Unfortunately, the percolator is not foldable. In addition, not all coffee is suitable for the percolator. This is often indicated on the packaging. My favorite: Lavazza and Illy espresso.

What you always need, in any case, is: water, ground coffee beans, a mug, and a heat source.

Brew-in-the-Bag

The unique “brew-in-the-bag” concept makes it possible to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee anywhere. The strength can be adjusted to your preference. With just hot water and this Coffee Brewer, you can easily enjoy a delicious cup of coffee on the go and on vacation.

Alternative

Prefer even more convenience? Then choose instant coffee. This is not my preference. I use making coffee as a moment of rest while riding. Besides, nothing beats a fresh cup of 'real' coffee for me.
